Mit dem Tanzprojekt „Dance against racism“ startet der Capoeira Angola e. V. in Berlin Mitte in die 2. Runde im Kampf gegen( Alltags-)Rassismus.

60 Projektteilnehmer aus sechs europäischen Ländern werden vom 24.07. – 04.08.2009 mit Tanzperformances auf Berlins Straßen ihrer politischen Botschaft gegen Rassismus Ausdruck verleihen.

Im Rahmen der Vorbereitungen für dieses Projekt möchten wir auf die folgende Veranstaltun hinweisen:

Am 5. Juli um 19 Uhr wird Grada Kilomba in der Academia Jangada aus Ihrem jüngsten Buch „Plantation Memories: Episodes of Everyday Racism“, lesen (siehe Veranstaltungshinweis auf unserer Webseite).

Im Sommer letzten Jahres konnten wir mit unserer Jugendbegegnung „Let´s go to No-Go“ viele Zuschauer begeistern und für das Thema Rassismus sensibilisieren. Wir präsentierten Tanzperformances zur Geschichte der Capoeira in Berlin und Zingst an der Ostsee, eine der ehemaligen „No-Go-Areas“ für Ausländer.

Die Capoeira als Kultur des Widerstandes hat in Brasilien bereits während der Kolonialzeit den afrikanischen Sklaven das nötige Selbstbewusstsein gegeben, um gegen die Rassenunterdrückung zu kämpfen.

Nach dem großen Erfolg von „Let´s go to No-Go“ startet diesen Sommer das Folgeprojekt „Dance against racism“. Wieder werden soziale Realitäten und politische Stimmungen in Tanz und Musik wiedergegeben. Stimmungen und Erfahrungen unserer Teilnehmer zum Thema Fremdenfeindlichkeit werden in Tanz-Workshops ausarbeitet und für die Zuschauer erlebbar.

Wir arbeiten in unseren Creation-Workshops mit Elementen der Capoeira Angola, Get Physical, traditionellen brasilianischen Tänzen, Tanzimprovisation und Theater. Das fertige Stück wir am Ende des Projektes zwischen dem 2. und 4. August in einem „Performance-Marathon“ an drei aufeinander folgenden Tagen an verschiedenen öffentlichen Plätzen in Berlin gezeigt. Die genauen Termine und Spielorte, werden kurzfristig auf der Webseite www.jangada.com veröffentlicht.

Finanziert wird dieses Projekt vom Träger „Jugend für Europa“.

In Berlin-Mitte the association Capoeira Angola e.V. will start its second round in its fight against racism, from 24th of July to 4th of August 2009, with the new dance project “Dance Against Racism”.

60 attendants from 6 European countries are going to present dance performances on the streets of Berlin, to express their political message against racism.

Last summer with our youth meeting “Let´s go to No-Go” we inspired lots of viewers, making them aware to the topic of racism.

In Berlin and Zingst at the Baltic Sea, one of the former No-Go-Areas for foreign people, we presented dance performances about the history of Capoeira Angola.During colonial times in Brazil, Capoeira as a culture of resistance has given the African slaves the self-assurance to fight against racial depression.

After the large success of “Let´s go to No-Go” this summer starts the following project “Dance against racism”. Again, social realities and political opinions are going to be reflected with dance and music.  Our approach is interdisciplinary in the sense that we will work with Capoeira Angola, traditional brasilian as well as contemporary dance, Ricardo de Paula\'s \'get physical\' process, dance improvisation and theater.  To create the performance we connect the different cultural and ethnic backgrounds of all our members in one collective message against racial intolerance.

The performance is going to be presented on the last three days of the project at different public places in Berlin. The concrete dates and places for our performances will be published at short notice on our website www.jangada.com.

This year we will have participants from Poland, England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany.

If you decide to join our new summer-project, we can bear 70 % of the travel costs (arrival at 24.07.09 departure at 04.08.09; only from abroad) for your journey to Berlin and return and we will arrange very cheap board and lodging for you.
